Antique American hand embroidered sampler cushion. The cross stitched words read 'VISITS ALWAYS GIVE PLEASURE IF NOT IN THE COMING THEN IN THE GOING'. Surrounding the words are carefully worked images of a steam train, coach and horse, paddle steamer, a figure on a penny farthing and a bicycle-made-for-two. The piece is mounted onto vintage French linen with yellow ric-rac, is backed in the same linen and finished with yellow piping.
The cover has an envelope opening for easy removal, is hand washable and comes complete with a quality feather pad.
