“Looking north towards Hungry Hill”
Bere Island sits in Bantry Bay in West Cork. It is a wild and beautiful place, a favourite haunt of sailors and walkers. The combination of high rainfall and the mild Gulf Stream means growth is rampant in the spring and summer although the winter storms take their toll. The great variety of wild flowers in the hedgerows attract masses of butterflies and there are birds a plenty, including the rare Chough.
There are two pubs, two Cafes, two Ferries, a Marina, Hostel and Holiday Houses.
I will be adding links to these later but for now please visit
